2025 South Burlington Rotary Golf Tournament Planned


2025 South Burlington Rotary Golf Tournament PlannedFor the 27th year in a row, the South Burlington Rotary Club, in partnership with Vermont Construction - Roofing Division, will be holding a charity golf tournament at Vermont National Country Club on September 15, 2025. This year’s major beneficiary will be the Josh Pallotta Fund in addition to South Burlington Rotary Charities. The Josh Pallotta Fund runs Josh’s House in Colchester which is a Veterans-designed wellness and recreational center that include traditional, complementary and alternative healing modalities such as massage, Reiki, yoga, integrative health and wellness coaching, healing touch, acupuncture and more. They are now open at the old Fort Ethan Allen in Colchester. ![]() ![]() Players will enjoy a day of golf at Vermont National Country Club, a private Jack Niklaus-designed course including greens fees, carts, full use of the driving range and practice areas, lunch, and dinner. In addition, each player gets a mulligan, a zinger (one putt from anywhere on the green) and five raffle tickets for prizes awarded during the dinner. Andrea wanted us to know that of the 10,000+ visitors they saw last year, to their knowledge, there hasn't been 1 suicide. Speech contestAbby Lynch participated in the 3rd round of the Rotary speech contest on Saturday April 12th at the University of Vermont, Lyndon Campus. Abby is a freshman at SBHS, and said that she loved the experience and will be back next year. There was stiff competition, and the two finalists were seniors, who essentially memorized the speech and knocked it out of the park. ![]() ![]() |
Update and Donation from Barbados-South Rotary ClubMembers of our club have built relationships with the Barbados-South Rotary Club over the years. Today we had an update from Terry Hall on all of the programs that they engage in on an annual basis - a very active club. We provided a donation for them to support their Next Generation program supporting youth in their community. Sergio wins the raffleEvery week our club has a raffle and the winner gets to select a card from a deck of cards hoping for the queen of hearts. Many weeks go by with no queen selected and the pot increases. This week, Sergio Jones pulled the queen of hearts and received 50% of the pot. The balance goes for club activities. Update on CSWD programsWe had a great talk today from Gabriella Stevens, Business Outreach Coordinator for Chittenden Solid Waste District (CSWD). She updated us on various programs including: A list of recyclable materials destinations here (2025 CSWD Materials Destination - Chittenden Solid Waste District). Volunteering for their Waste Warrior program which will be restarting soon. Volunteers get training on what materials are recyclable/compostable/trash and free access to events, like concerts and fairs (Registration: Waste Warriors - Chittenden Solid Waste District). Lastly, a tour of Green Mountain Compost and Backyard Composting workshop will be on Saturday, April 19th. Dr. Erin Davis InductionToday we were happy to induct Dr. Erin Davis to our club. She is a Managing Director at Leading Educators whose executive leadership team guides schools to have the teaching, leadership, and conditions to lift every student to great heights. She recently moved from Oklahoma back to Vermont where she grew up. She has spent most of her career in education and non-profits. She is looking forward to connecting with non-profits locally and participating in service projects. Her father John is a long time member of the South Burlington club. Vince Bolduc Awarded the Frederick Tuttle AwardVincent L. Bolduc was awarded the Frederick H. Tuttle Award ! This award is given to a person demonstrating the personal characteristics and commitment to vocation and community for which Mr. Tuttle was known and respected. Throughout Tuttle’s 33 years as an educator, he was known as a person who embodied the best of what public education provides to children and to the community at large. Mr. Bolduc was a tenured Professor of Sociology at Saint Michael’s College where he received the Rev. Gerald E. Depont Award for “outstanding contributions to the Saint Michael’s community” in 2012. Here in South Burlington, he and his demography students conducted exit interviews at polling places, including SB City Center, about a variety of initiatives and presented the results in the Other Paper and to the City Council. Mr. Bolduc has served as president of the Central School PTO, chair of the City’s Sustainable Agriculture Committee, moderator for local election debates for City Council and the School Board, and member of the City’s Affordable Housing Committee.
