International Day of Peace
Sep. 25, 2024 11:00 a.m. - 6:30 p.m.

Established in 1981 by unanimous United Nations resolution, International Day of Peace represents a globally shared day for all humanity to commit to building a culture of peace in communities around the world. The Vermont Council on World Affairs is excited to once again celebrate International Day of Peace with programming focused on this important topic.

This year's event, Peace in Progress: Understanding Today, Shaping Tomorrow, will focus on the future of peace and will explore our current global peace landscape and envision future pathways to a more unified world.  During this event, we will unite advocates, visionaries, and policymakers who are committed to the shared commitment of building a more peaceful and secure world.

Join us on September 25th, 2024 for a full-day summit where we will explore the vital role of subnational diplomacy in promoting peace, highlight the contributions of women as peacebuilders, and examine the impact of emerging technologies on peace and conflict resolution. In addition, we will delve into the global challenges and opportunities for peace, examining current conflicts to inspire collaborative efforts toward a more peaceful world.

Each year at our International Day of Peace event we honor an individual who, in VCWA's view, embodies the qualities inherent in promoting international understanding and building ties between the US and the world with our Person of the Year Award.

Update on Janet S. Munt Family Room Childcare Center

Jan. 16, 2025 7:30 a.m.

The Janet S. Munt Family Room is a unique parent child center providing programs that are accessible to all and flexible enough to meet the needs of our changing community.  We support connection for parents and families, provide education, promote physical, social, emotional, and linguistic development in children, and nurture a vibrant and diverse community.

Damon joined the staff of the Family Room to increase his knowledge of family support and broaden his understanding of our community’s diversity. Having been a father for only 8 years means he has as much to learn about supporting families as he has to learn about raising children. The Family Room offers him the opportunity to sharpen his fathering skills while meeting and sharing with the many members and families in the community.

More information about the Janet S. Munt Family Room Childcare Center here:
