Liz Bernier will speak on the work and initiatives of the Vermont Council on World Affairs.

Molly Gray will speak to our club about the work of the Vermont Afghan Alliance.

Tino Rutanhira will speak about the organization and mission of the Vermont Professionals of Color.

Carol has decades of experience educating children, working with families, and building community. In 2009 she co-founded Common Roots centered on food education, food security and land stewardship. In 1982 she co-founded Green Mountain Habitat for Humanity the 52nd affiliate in the US. Carol is passionate about supporting food education, food equity, and leaving a vibrant food system for future generations.

Today, she will be talking about the purchase land adjacent to our South Village Farm on Spear Street.

Denise Vignoe will speak to our club about the work of the Howard Center.

Sergio is originally from the Dominican Republic and owns an engineering business here in Vermont.  According to Sergio, The Dominican Republic has deepened by commitment to community service.  Through my entrepreneurial endeavors, I want to make a positive impact on the community.

He will be giving a classification talk to introduce himself to the club.

Rotary member Eric von Wettberg, UVM Ass Professor Plant & Soil Science will present Doomsday Seed Vault program.

On this Halloween we are happy to have Jason Smiley talk to us about the Eddy file from Chittenden Vermont.  Jason is an Eddy Family Historian and has been researching the Eddy Brothers for more than a decade. There are many misconceptions about the Eddy family and plenty of false information out there that keeps getting retold. My goal is to bring to light the facts of the story.  More at his website.

More than 500 Afghans have resettled in Vermont, the largest per capita population of resettled Afghans in the country. And we’re proud to be part of helping this incredible community thrive.

The Alliance provides basic services, and connects Afghans to state and local service providers. The Alliance also helps preserve cultural traditions and connects the growing community through celebrations and community gatherings.

November is ROTARY FOUNDATION MONTH.  Libby Camire will provide the South Burlington Rotary Foundation Committee update.

Fed up with pumping in bathrooms and borrowed spaces—Mamava’s co-founders, Sascha Mayer and Christine Dodson, applied their decades of expertise in design and brand strategy to solve a problem that was largely invisible: the lack of lactation spaces in workplaces and public spaces. 

Ilona Blanchard will give an update on South Burlington City Center build out plans, city green,TIF status

D. Thomas Toner is a Professor of Music at the University of Vermont where he teaches percussion and conducts the Percussion Ensemble, Concert Band, and Wind Ensemble. Dr. Toner is the Principal Percussionist of the Vermont Symphony Orchestra, with whom he has performed a wide variety of music.  He has also appeared with the Moscow Chamber Orchestra, the Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra, the Massachusetts Chamber Players, the Bermuda Philharmonic, the Rhode Island Philharmonic, and many other ensembles in the northeast.

We will have no "formal" meeting this day, just time for socializing with each other (and our guests), enjoying tasty vittles, and being treated to a year-end tale by erstwhile newspaperman, founder of the Young Writer's Project, and soon-to-be published novelist, Geoff Gevalt.  If you'd like to learn more about Geoff:  https://www.geoffreygevalt.com/

Munt Family Room is a unique parent child center providing programs that are accessible to all and flexible enough to meet the needs of our changing community.  We support connection for parents and families, provide education, promote physical, social, emotional, and linguistic development in children, and nurture a vibrant and diverse community.

Damon joined the staff of the Family Room to increase his knowledge of family support and broaden his understanding of our community’s diversity. Having been a father for only 8 years means he has as much to learn about supporting families as he has to learn about raising children. The Family Room offers him the opportunity to sharpen his fathering skills while meeting and sharing with the many members and families in the community.
