Mark has been Spectrum’s Executive Director since 2003. He has worked with homeless and at-risk youth since 1981 – in New York City; Westchester, NY; and Stamford, CT. In addition to working at Spectrum, Mark is the author of The Goodness Within: Reaching out to Troubled Teens with Love and Compassion (Paulist Press) and Called: A Memoir (Onion River Press). He has had articles published in Forbes, The New York Times, The Washington Post, the Huffington Post and Burlington Free Press.  He has also been on NPR’s The Moth and other podcasts such as RISK!, Strangers, The Lapse and Stories from the Stage.

The Constitution
John Dooley The Constitution Sep. 11, 2025

John A. Dooley served on the Vermont Supreme Court for 30 years before stepping down in 2017. He previously served as the secretary of administration for the State of Vermont between 1985-87; and president, Vermont Bar Association. Since 1998, Justice Dooley has been president of the Russian-American Rule of Law Consortium (RAROLC), established to develop, support, and fund similar partnership programs between the legal communities of American states and the legal communities of Russian regions. RAROLC currently sponsors partnership programs in nine states and regions and is currently developing new partnerships. RAROLC is an outgrowth of the Vermont/Karelia Rule of Law Program, Inc. that was established in 1992 to conduct programs to advance and support the legal profession and judiciary of the State of Vermont and the Republic of Karelia. Justice Dooley has a B.E.E degree from Union College, and LLB from Boston College Law School.

Rolf Kielman lives with his wife Stevie in Hinesburg, Vermont. He was born in The Hague, the Netherlands and immigrated to Canada at the age of six. Subsequently he settled in Vermont. Rolf has practiced architecture for the past 40 years. He is a partner with the Burlington, Vermont firm of TruexCullins, Architects.

His design work ranges from public buildings, urban planning and private residential structures. Rolf serves on various volunteer and not for profit organizations. He is a member of the Hinesburg Planning Commission and the Hinesburg Development Review Board. He is a Board Member of the Fleming Museum of Art and is active with the 52 Kids Foundation, Burlington City Arts, the Committee on Temporary Shelter and the Howard Center Curling Challenge.

Helping the people of Rwanda afflicted with rheumatic heart disease. Dr. Leavitt has put his 28 years of experience as an attending in cardiac and thoracic surgery to good use with extensive surgical missionary work in Rwanda, Nigeria, Sri Lanka, Panama, Russia and China. He has been the physician advisor to the Mt. Mansfield Ski Patrol (Stowe, VT) since 1988 and has been a volunteer physician leader for the Vermont City Marathon since 2007.

Music Director at VYO. Prior to his move to Vermont, he was the assistant conductor of the Cleveland Pops Orchestra, Cleveland Pops Youth, the American Youth Symphony, the National Repertory Orchestra, and the Long Beach Symphony Orchestra. In addition to his professional positions, Alpízar was instrumental faculty at Lake Erie College in Northeast Ohio, and conducting faculty at CSU Long Beach’s Bob Cole Conservatory of Music.

Sat. 11/22/25 will be Rotary Day at the Wood4Good wood lot on Cilley Hill Rd. in Jericho, VT.  Our volunteer work will include working wood-splitting machines, moving logs, and handling split wood.  The South Burlington Rotary Club will join other local rotary clubs for this event.
 
Wood 4 Good is a nonprofit organization that provides free wood to families in need. 
 
Please bring heavy boots, work gloves,  drinking water, rotary shirt, and ear muffs if available.  Contact Linda Collins 802-730-6012 with any questions.
 
Directions:
 
Take Rte 15 East towards Jericho,VT.  Take left turn onto Cilley Hill Rd.  Bear right at the 1st Y intersection.  Wood 4 Good lot is on the right as you go up the hill.

Champlain Housing Trust
Michael Monte Champlain Housing Trust Jan. 08, 2026 7:30 a.m.

Michael is Champlain Housing Trust’s Chief Executive Officer having joined the leadership team in December 2007 and being appointed CEO in January, 2021. He has over 40 years of community and economic development experience both at the non-profit and municipal level. He worked at Burlington’s Community and Economic Development Office (CEDO) from its creation and was its longest serving Director. Prior to CEDO, he was employed as Executive Director for several non-profit organizations including the King Street Center. Michael is also a founder and partner of the independent community development consultant group, Burlington Associates, where he worked with Community Land Trusts around the country. He serves on the Board of the National NeighborWorks Association, the Grounded Solutions Network and leads the CEO forum of the Housing Partnership Network. He is the Chair of HPIex, a national insurance captive that provides workers comp, health care and property and liability insurance to members of the Housing partnership Network. Michael Is a recipient of the  Con Hogan Award for Creative, Entrepreneurial, Community Leadership and has been recognized for his  work by the Vermont Housing & Conservation Board with the Mollie Beattie award. Michael is a graduate of Achieving Excellence, a leadership program of Harvard’s Kennedy School of Government and NeighborWorks America. He holds a BA degree from Goddard College.
