The mission of this program is to help our residents across our independent living, assisted living, and special-purpose housing communities whose goal is to not only age in place but also age in place with one of their best friends and closest family members – their pets. Allowing seniors to stay with their pets while on a fixed income, supported by studies that show folks with animal companions have higher levels of happiness and wellbeing.

Terry and Rich Berger will present on the collaboration between Barbados South Rotary and SBRC after Rich's visit this winter. They will share projects completed together and the benefits of collaboration.  We will be enabling Zoom for this meeting for our remote presenter as well as those not able to be there in person.  Here is the link:

The Josh Pallotta Fund, Inc. is a 501(c)3, non-profit organization, created by a group of Veterans, family, and community members in memory of Joshua R. Pallotta; dedicated to supporting Veterans and Service Members.

At the Josh Pallotta Fund, we support Josh’s House, a wellness and recreation center for Vermont’s service members. We hope to combine local and national resources, emergency services, and research to provide Veterans the resiliency, transition and reintegration tools to help them sustain or return to full and healthy lives.

A retired high school social studies teacher, Brett has five years’ experience running a social services organization and 22 years in the software business. A trip to Dago in 2009 left Brett feeling compelled to encourage positive change in an otherwise poor village. Two years later, the Weiss Scholarship Foundation was created in memory of his parents Bernard and Elsie. Brett is a member of The Rotary Club of Naperville (IL).

Katrina was chosen to represent Vermont and the United States to the world at the USA Pavilion at EXPO 2020 Dubai by the US Department of State and Global Ties US. She served as a Youth Ambasador interacting with world officials sharing knowledge on US history and culture and building people to people connections with millions of EXPO visitors from all over the world.

Phiona Atuhaire, Ph.D., is the incoming Assistant Governor for the upcoming Rotary year. As we prepare to begin a new term of service, I would love to connect with your club for an introductory visit before the Rotary year officially begins. This will give us an opportunity to share initial plans and discuss how I can best support your goals and priorities in the year ahead. A little about me: I have been a proud member of the Rotary Club of Burlington since 2021, having joined after moving from Uganda in 2020. Before that, I had been a Rotarian since 2014 and have served in roles such as Club President and Secretary. Outside of Rotary, I work in Strategic planning at the University of Vermont. I look forward to learning more about your club’s work and sharing in our collective mission of Service Above Self.

Strategies for Housing - Lets Build Homes

Emilie is a Chief of Strategy and External Affairs and leads the campaign efforts for Let’s Grow Kids and the Let’s Grow Kids Action Network to secure access to high-quality, affordable child care for all Vermont families by 2025. Emilie grew up in Hartford, Vermont and recently returned home with her husband and two small children.

Mark has been Spectrum’s Executive Director since 2003. He has worked with homeless and at-risk youth since 1981 – in New York City; Westchester, NY; and Stamford, CT. In addition to working at Spectrum, Mark is the author of The Goodness Within: Reaching out to Troubled Teens with Love and Compassion (Paulist Press) and Called: A Memoir (Onion River Press). He has had articles published in Forbes, The New York Times, The Washington Post, the Huffington Post and Burlington Free Press.  He has also been on NPR’s The Moth and other podcasts such as RISK!, Strangers, The Lapse and Stories from the Stage.

Our own member, John will tell us what being on the Sexton Committee in SB entails.  He will discuss the history and future for SB's two cemeteries.

John A. Dooley served on the Vermont Supreme Court for 30 years before stepping down in 2017. He previously served as the secretary of administration for the State of Vermont between 1985-87; and president, Vermont Bar Association. Since 1998, Justice Dooley has been president of the Russian-American Rule of Law Consortium (RAROLC), established to develop, support, and fund similar partnership programs between the legal communities of American states and the legal communities of Russian regions. RAROLC currently sponsors partnership programs in nine states and regions and is currently developing new partnerships. RAROLC is an outgrowth of the Vermont/Karelia Rule of Law Program, Inc. that was established in 1992 to conduct programs to advance and support the legal profession and judiciary of the State of Vermont and the Republic of Karelia. Justice Dooley has a B.E.E degree from Union College, and LLB from Boston College Law School.
