Tibetan community in Vermont was founded in 1993 with few individual members; now consisted with hundred and twenty three members.  To actively promote and support human rights and democratic freedoms in Tibet.  To preserve and promote Tibetan Culture, heritage and religion. To liase with and support the Tibetan Government in exile through the Office of Tibet, New York, USA.  Our mission is to contribute to and uphold the American value of multiculturalism.  To work together to build innovative, productive and peaceful American Tibetan Communities in US.  To Initiate and maintain unity among Tibetan Organizations in North America. Mrs. Cummings is President of the Association.

A dedicated humanitarian, Katia Vieira de Moraes LaCasse, M.D., was born in São Paulo, Brazil, and received her medical degree from Faculdade de Medicina do ABC in 2004 and completed a pediatric residency in 2010 at Santa Casa de Misericordia de São Paulo.

After several years working as a pediatric hospitalist and running a private pediatric practice, Vieira de Moraes LaCasse embarked on her first humanitarian deployment to Afghanistan with Médecins Sans Frontières/Doctors Without Borders (MSF). The experience had an immense impact on her and changed her life trajectory. "After my six months in Afghanistan, I returned home to Brazil, quit both my jobs and closed my private practice. I could not fathom going back to work in private hospitals when I knew how much help was needed in humanitarian contexts," she says. "I set out to dedicate my life to humanitarian work full time."

Three years ago, after additional MSF deployments to South Sudan, as well as Save the Children deployments to Colombia, Syria, Haiti, and Dominican Republic, Vieira de Moraes LaCasse moved to Vermont.  Currently serving as the clinical lead for the Emergency Health Unit at Save the Children U.S., she decided to pursue a Master of Public Health degree at UVM to "add more tools to her arsenal to provide better responses and affect policy development".

Judy was inducted into the SB Rotary Club in the Fall of 2024.  Today she will provide an insight into who she is with a classification talk.

SBRotary chooses a winner from recommendations from the public for non—Rotarian individuals who have shown exemplary service at many levels—community, business, etc.

In 1999 and 2000 Rick, inspired by 89-year-old “Granny D’s” 18-month walk across the entire United States to highlight the need for campaign finance reform, walked with her for a week in Kentucky. Subsequently Rick walked some 450 miles around 3 sides of Vermont to similarly advocate through interviews with more than 50 radio, newspaper and television discussions and stories as they covered his journey. More recently he has joined other activists to support efforts by Lawrence Lessig and The New Hampshire Rebellion to encourage NH voters to ask 2016 Presidential primary candidates the question:  “What specific reforms will you advance to end the corrupting influence of big money in politics?”  As part of these efforts Rick has:

• Walked the length of New Hampshire, 185 miles, in January of 2014.  with other NHR supporters in memory of “Granny D’s” walk across the USA in 1999/2000 for Democracy Reform.
• Walked NH again in January of 2015, 150 miles, from Dixville Notch to Concord (NH’s Capitol) as part of 4 marches from different corners of NH to all meet at the Concord state Capital  in support of Democracy Reform 
• From April 2nd to April 15th, 2016, Rick walked with about 100 others as part of Democracy Spring’s 140-mile march from Philadelphia’s Liberty Bell to our Capitol in Washington D.C.  There the group was met by thousands of others to demand that Congress take immediate action to end the corruption of big money in politics and ensure free and fair elections in which every America has an equal voice.

The mission of this program is to help our residents across our independent living, assisted living, and special-purpose housing communities whose goal is to not only age in place but also age in place with one of their best friends and closest family members – their pets. Allowing seniors to stay with their pets while on a fixed income, supported by studies that show folks with animal companions have higher levels of happiness and wellbeing.

Terry and Rich Berger will present on the collaboration between Barbados South Rotary and SBRC after Rich's visit this winter. A retired high school social studies teacher, Brett has five years’ experience running a social services organization and 22 years in the software business. A trip to Dago in 2009 left Brett feeling compelled to encourage positive change in an otherwise poor village. Two years later, the Weiss Scholarship Foundation was created in memory of his parents Bernard and Elsie. Brett is a member of The Rotary Club of Naperville (IL).

Katrina was chosen to represent Vermont and the United States to the world at the USA Pavilion at EXPO 2020 Dubai by the US Department of State and Global Ties US. She served as a Youth Ambasador interacting with world officials sharing knowledge on US history and culture and building people to people connections with millions of EXPO visitors from all over the world.

Phiona Atuhaire, Ph.D., is the incoming Assistant Governor for the upcoming Rotary year. As we prepare to begin a new term of service, I would love to connect with your club for an introductory visit before the Rotary year officially begins. A little about me: I have been a proud member of the Rotary Club of Burlington since 2021, having joined after moving from Uganda in 2020. Emilie grew up in Hartford, Vermont and recently returned home with her husband and two small children.
