  The Vermont Council on World Affairs is excited to once again celebrate I
 nternational Day of Peace with programming focused on this important topic
 . This year's event\,Peace in Progress: Understanding Today\, Shaping Tomo
 rrow\, will focus on the future of peace and will explore our current glob
 al peace landscape and envision future pathways to a more unified world. 
  During this event\, we will unite advocates\, visionaries\, and policymak
 ers who are committed to the shared commitment of building a more peaceful
  and secure world. Join us on September 25th\, 2024 for a full-day summit 
 where we will explore the vital role of subnational diplomacy in promoting
  peace\, highlight the contributions of women as peacebuilders\, and exami
 ne the impact of emerging technologies on peace and conflict resolution. I
 n addition\, we will delve into the global challenges and opportunities fo
 r peace\, examining current conflicts to inspire collaborative efforts tow
 ard a more peaceful world.     Each year at our International Day of Peace
  event we honor an individual who\, in VCWA's view\, embodies the qualitie
 s inherent in promoting international understanding and building ties betw
 een the US and the world with our Person of the Year Award.
